Our History
Welcome to Kenyatta University, the second largest public University in Kenya. Located 17km north of the Nairobi CBD, the main campus is home for over 70,000 students. What started as a small college has now mushroomed into a world class university hosting some of the best infrastructure of all time. Within Kenyatta University is what some call a modern day miracle.
The outburst of KUSDA CHURCH was organized into the sisterhood of the Seventh-day Adventist Church under CKC on March 23, 2002. Through the initiative of the late Professor Makau and his family, the church was born in the year 1979 and they used to worship at the chapel.
As the university intake grew, there was need for a larger worship room since the chapel could only accommodate about 500 students. Later in 2001 the university employed a university chaplain Dr Enoch Omosa. On March 23, 2002, the university under the leadership the then Vice Chancellor, Prof George Eshiwani, made an historic decision of granting a 1 acre land to construct a SDA church. The ground breaking was done in 2006.
How the church grew to the magnificent structure of today is a miracle. It had been an uphill task as the students have implemented a number of programs to raise money. The journey has been long; sometimes it looked like the vision of completing the church was a mirage or mere wishful thinking. However the students worked tirelessly to surmount the challenges.
KUSDA Church has walked through daunting escapades; it has survived because God’s unceasing love for His church which fails not.
Now KUSDA is a place where morals and character are rectified. We thank God from Whom all blessings flow.
