Streets and slums Integration was started in 2005. It was founded by a former street boy John Murai Mbugua and it has been operating under different names upto 21st April 2009 when it was registered under NGO Act by the name STREETS AND SLUMS INTEGRATION PROJECT (SSIP).
John Murai is a trained volunteer -children office. He won the volunteer of the year award 2008 by (VSO) senior social worker, worked with wema center, Thika as a pioneer and trained sports coach. John Murai Mbugua has a committee who runs the organization as volunteer board of directors.
